NY Teochew Youth at the U.S. Teochew Federations' Third-Term Inauguration
Two days of celebration on Long Island as the Chao-shan Federation of Commerce installed its third Board of Directors and the U.S. Teochew Youth Federation its third-term board, with our delegation present throughout.
On October 8, 2025, the Chao-shan Federation of Commerce USA installed its third Board of Directors and the U.S. Teochew Youth Federation its third-term board, at a joint inauguration ceremony held at Leonard's Palazzo in Great Neck, New York. A delegation from the New York Teochew Youth Federation Association attended across both days of the celebration, held under the theme 僑之情 鄉之誼 — the bond of the diaspora, the friendship of home.
The gathering opened the evening before. On October 7, our members joined the Chao-shan Federation of Commerce's welcome reception for delegations arriving from around the country, raising a glass with the Teochew associations and business representatives who had travelled in for the occasion.
By the following afternoon the hall was full. Lion dancers carried celebratory couplets the length of the ballroom, and several hundred guests — chamber and association representatives from across the United States and beyond — gathered beneath the federations' banner for the ceremony.
The incoming directors of both federations took the oath of office together on stage, reading the pledge in unison before the assembled guests. Afterwards the whole assembly stepped outside, where four lions and a red carpet framed a group photograph in front of the hall.
For our own board, barely six months into its first term, the day was a chance to stand alongside the national organisations our association works with, and to meet the elders and peers who make up the wider Teochew network in America. We congratulate both federations on their new terms, and thank them for keeping a place at the table for the next generation.
