NY Teochew Youth Attends the Inauguration of the Teo Yeung Association of Thailand

Led by the Chao-shan Federation of Commerce, our delegation joined Teochew business leaders from across the globe in Bangkok to congratulate Mr. Lin Wei on his installation as the 44th-term President.

On Aug 30,2026, under the leadership of the Chao-shan Federation of Commerce, representatives of the New York Teochew Youth Federation Association attended the inauguration ceremony held at the Teochew Association of Thailand, where Mr. Lin Wei was installed as the 44th-term President of the Teo Yeung (Chaoyang) Association of Thailand. The hall brought together gaginang — our own people — who have helped shape Thailand's prosperity, alongside Teochew chamber presidents from around the world. The story behind that room began more than two centuries ago, when red-head junks first carried Teochew families south to Nanyang with little more than their hands. Today, Teochew enterprise underpins a substantial share of Thailand's commerce, finance, and trade — built from nothing on kinship and solidarity. As the Teo Yeung Association passes the baton after eighty years, we offer our congratulations to President Lin Wei and our respect to every elder who carved out a future in Thailand. We are grateful to the Chao-shan Federation of Commerce for bringing our young members to this occasion; for our generation, the experience of these elders is a lesson worth carrying forward — the same unity, the same sense of responsibility.
